The TITs Week 84

25 Jul

~

Fuckers, Fuckers, Fuckers,

Since I am almost 2 weeks overdue for my usual segment of music, and still shoulder deep in interviews/concert reviews to finish, I’m going to again stick to my watered-down version of the TITs. But not to fret, as I have been scouring more and more websites for new music recently, and have emerged with a buffet portion of goodies for you guys to sink your teeth into. And for any of you out there that, like myself, have developed a strong affinity to the flourishing Trap music market that is slowly taking the EDM world by storm, then this week is especially attuned to you.

when Gotham is ashes, then you have my permission to die.

- Signed Sincerely, The Worst Guy

5 Cities, 5 Artists, 3 Days – Pt. 1 (Montreal, Kingston and Ottawa Recaps)

23 Feb

Loyal Listeners,

Well after 3 embarrassing days of being the only non-Asian person sitting in my university library during reading week, all the videos from last week’s roadtrip have finally uploaded and are ready to be sampled at whim by you – the music loving public. Furthermore, I’m currently in the process of amalgamating all the extra footage together, so I can hopefully present the first of many documentaries that will revolve around both my experiences as a modern music journalist on the road, as well as the day-to-day interactions and hilarious scenarios that the artists I have befriended experience almost 365 days a year. So stay tuned people, as the months that close out 2012 are going to be featuring some big and exciting new features here at TWG.

I’d like to personally thank Loper (Crizzly’s manager) for setting everything up for me, and TheKNWLDG.com for making sure we were taken care of from start to finish. I would also like to thank 12th Planet for continually showing us so much support, Crizzly for being exactly the man that I had hoped he’d be, and Mord Fustang for somehow having a healthier appetite than I for a certain formerly decriminalized contraband.

full review to follow…

- Signed Sincerely, The Worst Guy

The TITs Week 68

18 Feb

My Fellow Breastaholics,

I have just awoken from my first decent sleep in almost 4 days, which is both a pleasure and a curse. Although my body and overall conscious sanity will finally be back into somewhat of a functioning order, the lament that comes with the end of an incredible week on the road covering concerts has now fully emo’d itself into my bloodstream and overall demeanor. All thats left for me to do is to sit here on my computer until all the videos have uploaded successfully and begin chronicling the best (of what I still remember) of the past 3 days into my usual review format.

In the meantime, driving from London to Kingston, to Montreal, back to Kingston, to Ottawa, and then to Toronto, gave Dan and I ample opportunity to flex out playlists for extended periods in the car, which in turn has garnerend a shit-heap of new musical samplers for you to fondle at whim this week. Also, be sure to check back in the coming week for all the recaps and reviews of the shows listed below:

  • 12th Planet, Flinch & Crizzly @ Le Belmont – Montreal
  • 12th Planet, Flinch & Crizzly @ Wrongbar – Toronto
  • Rusko @ Stages Nighclub – Kingston
  • Rusko @ London Music Hall – London
  • Mord Fustang @ Ritual Nightclub – Ottawa

The TITs Week 66: Superbowl Edition

6 Feb

f

Fellow Football and Non-Football Fans,

I don’t care what anyone of you think about her, and how dazzling she looked in that black outfit last night; C-Lo Green should not be performing at Superbowl half time shows. Also the game itself was excitingly sports, and today I am nursing my hangover with my usual offering of breastastic musical selections from my iTunes bibliotheque.

Praise You (Drop Out Orchestra Rework)

Every time I see a new Drop Out Orchestra anything appear in my Inbox folder I simply click the download button and immidiately upload it to the website’s server. It’s a process that saves me from listening to the song, listening to it again, and then listening to nothing but it for the rest of the day. The Swedish duo have been churning out blissful music frequently, and consistently, ever since I began mellowing out to their sound over a year ago, and they now sit at a ‘Demi-God’ tier on this website.

Feed Me – Relocation

Feed Me – One Click Headshot

This sucker was freshly uncaged no more than a few hours ago and I urge you all to PURCHASE IT. These two tracks are but a small, french-sized, appetizer of what Escape From Electric Mountain holds on the rest of it’s menu. For as you all know, when Chef Gooch decides to cook at Mau5trap’s Resto-Pub there’s very few reasons for you not to be fed properly from the Beatport buffet.

Pretty Lights – We Must Go On

My first encounter with Pretty Lights‘ music was back in 2010, when I saw him play alongside his former drum-tarded compadre – Adam Deitch. Since I have always been a huge fan of the Drummer/DJ combo value meal, I instantly became infatuated with their music and was listening to it exclusively on a day-to-day basis. But then Deitch left, and I saw Derek perform a visually stunning, but drum-stripped, solo performance the following year at Bonnaroo that just wasn’t the same. However, recently Derek has been releasing some incredibly mature sounding productions and I have found myself being drawn back to my Pretty Lights’ appreciation levels of yore.

P.S. here’s some more soothing electronic music:

Zingy (Jantsen and Dirt Monkey Boombahton remix)

Besides the fact that this awesome Jansten and Dirt Monkey collab is near impossible to not-dance-to if you’re a Moombahtite, the label that RELEASED IT FOR FREE must take the spotlight here. Reid Speed and her PLAY ME label support/have supported many of my closest, and favourite, American Dub and Drumstep producers on a consistent basis, and hearing of the efforts that she puts into Devin‘s career specifically is more than enough to hold her, and the label, in the utmost regard.

P.S. here’s some more Moombahyummies

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Over the last few months I have become more and more friendly with London’s hometown EDM hero Andy’s iLL, and with each interaction I have become more and more infatuated with his career and music. Aside from that, Andy is one of them uniquely awesome type people that are unfortunately a dime a dozen these days, and his story has proved more than worthy for broadcasting. So, over the next year or so, I will be following and documenting what life is like for a recently signed, and up and coming, young Canadian artist, in hopes that you aspiring little producers out there can draw inspiration from a role model that fuels himself on passion, friendship and overall positive thinking.
P.S. here’s a snippit of exactly what I’m talking about:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Hailing from Cheshire, England and now living in Tokyo, Submerse is an esteemed DJ/producer with a distinct and recognisable sound that traverses Two-step, Garage, Ambient and Drum and Bass whilst being punctuated by a myriad of unique and personal influences.”

An Englishman under Tokyo influence eh, I think I could get used to this.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now normally I’m not the biggest mashup fan, but La Felix‘s choice of tracks, and decision to throw in a nasty bassline, has kept this track rolling through my car stereosystem for the majority of the week. I even got a couple of head bobs from the hefty spanish woman that was working the Taco Bell drive-thru last night.
P.S. here’s a new preview from him:
